Kathleen has developed this relaxed friendly talk/natter outlining her transition from hand worked embroidery into Machine Embroidered Organza. Explaining how she works & combines them into dimensional and structural art works.
Kathleen talks about how she is developing a body of work using clear flexible PVC as a vehicle for her machine embroidery and fabrics. She explains how she changes its appearance with paints and trappings, laminating it together with free motion and decorative stitching to form innovative modern textile pieces. A selection of these pieces will be brought along to the talk for you to view.
This is Kathleen's signature workshop. Using dissolvable film, machine embroidery, trapped organza fabrics, cutting back techniques and use of a soldering iron to produce lacy see-through panels resulting in a full understanding of the process and techniques that Kathleen uses in her work.
